A sugarcane crop grows mainly in four stages: germination, tillering, grand growth and maturity. Each stage has different needs, so management should follow the stage too.
| Stage | Approximate timing | What happens | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germination | First 4–6 weeks after planting | Buds sprout and plants emerge | Moisture, sett quality, gaps |
| Tillering | About 1.5 to 4 months | Many shoots (tillers) emerge from one plant | Water, nutrition, keeping tillers alive |
| Grand Growth | About 4 to 9 months | Rapid gains in length and thickness | Enough water and nutrition, pests and diseases |
| Maturity | After about 9 months | Sugar builds up in the canes | Irrigation planning, harvest timing |
*Timings are approximate; they vary with variety, planting season and region.
What matters at each stage?
Germination: even germination sets the crop stand for the whole field. If gaps appear, you have to replant.
Tillering: this is where the plant population is formed. If the early tillers survive, the chance of good canes rises.
Grand growth: demand for water and nutrition is highest at this stage.
Maturity: when the crop matures, decide irrigation and harvest timing with the local sugar factory and expert advice.
Which stage does the Immunity Program cover?
- Planting / germination: Immunity Granules 8–12 KG / vigha.
- After the first irrigation: Sugarcane Special drenching 0.5–0.7 L / vigha.
- 2–4 leaves: Special + Gold foliar spray, 250 ML + 250 ML / vigha.
- Repeat: every 15–25 days, 2–3 sprays.
